A sad, sad, story. Given the many strikes against her ever growing up to be anything, it is amazing that Marilyn Monroe still is an icon to many people. Maybe it was her underlying intelligence, which was never acknowledged by those closest to her, maybe it was her sweet nature partnered with a pathological need to be nurtured; these traits inevitably led to misunderstandings, exploitation and eventually deep depression. Told with clarity and a sympathetic ear, readers will gain a new appreciation of this very complex character.Product details

Marilyn A Novel (Audible Audio Edition) Gloria Steinem Dina Pearlman Audible Studios Books Reviews
Bought this book for my granddaughter Marilyn is her idol she loves it very happy with this purchase!
Mostly a info repeat of other books I've read....but still well written!
My daughter is interested in the life and death of Marilyn. The book is for her an she loves it.
Perfect coffee table book, many pictures never seen before , not staged and making her look very venerable and human. More pictures than text.
Ms. Steinem's take on the life of Marilyn Monroe is fresh and original. Her thoughts on where a sixty year old Monroe would be are especially interesting. No new information but highly different musings make this a must read for any Monroe can.
I like how this book seeks to understand Marilyn instead of judge her. It sees her a person, a woman, and not as a public persona formed by the opinions of men. I feel that this is a great tribute to the person that she was, and who she could have been
I've read, and own, a ton of biographies on Marilyn. As Gloria Steinem points out the vast majority of Marilyn's biographers are male. She paints Marilyn in a different light, and offers a fresh perspective from a female point of view. Gloria raises a lot of interesting points, and makes studious observations. I highly recommend.
