Wanted to read this book because I've read all the other works by the author and they just keep getting better and better.
Book starts out with Jane March and she's making her special Christmas greeting cards with added New England magic.
She's at her mother's farmhouse with a broken left arm while she's still able to design her Christmas cards with her right arm. She needs to get in the holiday spirit to continue to work.
Story also follows Wes Davis, he's the mailman and he runs into Jane when hand delivering her mail. He had no idea her arm was in a sling. He just wants to get his mailrun done, his schedule.
He's to be married in several weeks...his brother is Jane's orthopedic doctor. He soon learns she has called it off and he plans to go to CA during the holiday season, to avoid all the questions about the break up.
Jane's mother may have the solution to her design block and gives her a list of things to do to get her in the holiday mood. Wes can help drive her.
Love hearing of the event on The Green and new words-that I actually look up online. Love learning new things and about others careers.
Whittling sounds like one would need a lot of patience, as in designing greeting cards. Precious scene with Wes's hands and Jane's on top showing and feeling how to whittle. Seems both parents are gearing their kids up to follow in their footsteps, in their own way. Love the time Wes shares daily with his dad, priceless!
Love how they help out one another for each of their businesses. So many scenes are revisited from past books by the author. If you've never read them you can still catch up with the events that take place: boat parade is one of my favorites.
A keeper! This story puts me in the mood to want to decorate this year, thanks!

I enjoyed Snow Deer & Cocoa Cheer as a cozy light seasonal read.The author really has an eye for detail and talent for description. She sets the story of Jane and Wes in fictional Addison, a New England town. The details of the decorations, foliage, food, clothes, traditions and characters are very 'real.' The story is a typical romance with a few hiccups along the way. You must pardon a few grammatical errors and typos and the fact that the same catch phrases are used by multiple characters. The book prepares the reader for Thanksgiving and Christmas and is not disturbing in any way- the town is enchanting, and one would like to visit or even live there. I enjoy how DeMaio entwines places and people from her past novels into the story.There is a happy ending- that's the formula. This is the type of book, among others, that I enjoy reading at this time of year. I also find that the author has really grown as a writer with each new book.
Snow Deer and Cocoa Cheer is the perfect story to get you in the mood for the holidays this year. The story start off in the fall, in October, right about this time of year. And we go through Halloween and Thanksgiving and then right up to Christmas, right along with all the wonderful people who live in Addison. I was able to take a trip back to the lovely town of Addison where I got to reconnect with the community and the people I had come to love.

Jane goes back home to recuperate after she breaks her arm and where she is going to try to save her career. She is a greeting card maker who seems to have 'lost her jingle'. Her mother is there to support her and to try to help Jane find her way back.

Wes is just biding his time until he can leave his old life behind. His fiancé called of their wedding and instead of facing the questions from everyone at Christmas, he decides to head to the west coast. Who knows? Maybe he can start a new life there and be happy.

Snow Deer and Cocoa Cheer is a heartwarming story that shows us how beautiful the holidays can be when you are surrounded by those who love you. Joanne does such a fabulous job with her words that the reader can't help feeling all of the holiday joy and emotions that Jane, Wes, and all of the other people of Addison feel as they experience the love of the community. Her descriptions are so perfect that I had no trouble 'seeing' the wonderfulness of Addison.

I am always so excited when there is another Joanne DeMaio story to read and I am never disappointed. I love her stories and I love my trips back to the worlds she creates.
This book is one of the most charming, heartwarming Christmas books I have ever read. Snow Deer and Cocoa Cheer tells the story of Jane and Wesley. Jane is a greeting card designer, who has lost her jingle, and is afraid that if she doesn't get it back, she will lose her job. She is recuperating back in Addison at her mother's house after breaking her arm in a fall. She meets Wesley, third-generation mailman in Addison, when she needs his help getting her mail because of a persnickety door and her broken arm. Wes is a bit put out at first, and it doesn't help his mood that he was recently jilted by his fiancée. Wes is nursing a broken heart, and is reluctant to let Jane into his heart. He has plans to go to California, perhaps permanently, on Christmas Eve. But as he and Jane grow closer, he is more confused than ever about what to do. Jane and her smile have won his heart, but after being let down by his fiancée, he doesn't know if he can trust his heart anymore. The growing friendship between Jane and Wes is so sweet, and their method of communicating by a raised red flag on a mailbox was so heartwarming, especially in this day of texts and twitter! Snow Deer and Cocoa Cheer takes place in Addison, Connecticut. Addison is a quaint New England town, full of warmth and the spirit of the holidays. The book begins in autumn and takes us through Thanksgiving and Christmas, and the author's amazing descriptions made you feel like you were right there. Although this is a contemporary romance, this book has such a sweet, nostalgic feel to it. I don't remember ever reading a book which has a mailman as the romantic lead, but it definitely works in this book, and adds to the charm and whimsy. A perfect Christmas romance to warm your heart and get you into the spirit of the holidays!
